A Tour of the Twilight Filming Locations
I’ve been to Forks and La Push, where the Twilight book series takes place, but I’ve never been to the actual filming locations from the movies! That’s because while the director wanted to film in Forks, when he came to scout the town he realized there was just not enough infrastructure to support an entire film crew– there were literally not enough places to house and feed all of the people who would be working on the movie, and there was no other large town within driving distance! (Yeah, Forks is really far out there) Enter Halloweento— I mean, St. Helens, Oregon! (1,822 geeks have read this)

Visiting Halloweentown!
Sometime over the summer, I saw a video on Facebook about a little town in Oregon where it’s Halloween all year long. Halloween? OMG YES, I LOVE HALLOWEEN! You’re not the only one dressing up for once, so it really doesn’t feel awkward to let your geek shine! Especially now that “sexy” halloween costumes aren’t the only “cool” option. I mean, as if nerdy costumes were ever less than cool, but I digress. History has been hard to us nerds. Anyways! So, I saw a video for this Halloweentown that made it look really, really cool, and I thought, hey, I have to go! Guess what? I did! 😀 Here is…

So, I saw Hidden Figures last night…
I went to see Hidden Figures last night. I’ve been waiting for this movie since I first saw the trailer half a year ago, so even though it was at 10:10 and I am a definite early bird, I braved the night anyways. It was really, really good! Not just the story itself, but how it made me think about uncomfortable things in ways that I sort of saw coming, but didn’t really. I knew what history was like, but I didn’t really know what it was like. At all. What I mean is, I didn’t live in the 50s and 60s, especially as a (brilliant) black woman, so no amount of research, reading, or movies could…

Passengers
Three days ago, I saw Passengers, and I can’t stop thinking about it. I wish that there was a book to read so that I could experience it in greater detail. In short, it was so, so, SO LOVELY… As the plot grew, I sat in the audience wondering whether, in those circumstances, I would do the same thing. Two hours later, I walked out of the theater with so many questions revolving inside of my head, and they still haven’t stopped. This is masterful storytelling. Spoilers abound after this. You have been warned. I didn’t expect to feel anything like this at all when I went into the theater. Truthfully, I expected very little. Maybe some…

Divergent, Goong, and plans for the future! How was your day?
I don’t feel like talking about the past today, but that’s okay. ^^ I actually feel really optimistic about the future! So I’m just going to talk (well, write) a little bit. I hope that’s okay. ^^ Today, I went to see Divergent. It was a lot, lot better than I was expecting! I read the book (and its sequel. I’m reading the third book now, but sort of put it aside because it’s harder to get into) last summer, and remember liking everything but the sort of climactic battle near the end. It was the same thing with the movie, although I did tear up at a few points.…

Paragliding in Japan
Writing yesterday about the peach picking, made me think about all of the other great things that I’ve done, and the things that I haven’t yet done here! Did you know that a few years ago, I went paragliding? Sort of. You see, I didn’t get off the ground. Want to know more? (245 geeks have read this)
