I’m glad to see my last entry stirring up a lot of feelings. Good! I love to hear what you love/hate about Japan. I love it for some reasons and hate it for others. I also have plenty of reasons to love/hate the country that I was born in (The U.S.), but I don’t think that anybody cares what they are, haha. I think the bottom line for me is that I had a ton of fun living in Japan, but I’d rather visit to see all of the anime events/movies and get all of the merchandise that I want than actually continue living there.
I just don’t think that you should force yourself to do something just because it seems cool. Isn’t happiness what life is about? Living in Japan sounds cool. I wasn’t happy there anymore, though, so I should go somewhere where I am happier. Why not Hawaii? Also, I can return to Japan to live sometime if I ever want to. There’s nothing stopping me.
If you’re interested with why I left, well.. The bottom line is that it’s TOO DARN COLD (and too smoky). Those two things were the biggest factors and in the end, not something that I was willing to live with. I could have overcome a lot of my other annoyances given enough money and time, but the climate won’t change just because I want it to (otherwise I’d live in San Francisco!). 😀 Now, I just want to visit all of the time instead, and dedicate my life to making manga/books(also videos, etc maybe) that inspire people. 🙂 I hope that I get the chance to go to anime conventions and spread hope to people. I hope that my book helps people, too. If we work together to support each other, then I know that a lot of good creativity will come out of the world!
These days, I’m spending my time on blogging and editing the Tenipuri book. I want to have it all edited by the end of this week, so that I can send it to my friend/business partner to edit some more. While she’s working on that, I’m going to do the illustrations. I don’t feel comfortable publishing faces of the people involved (minus Sensei who gave permission for the photos in the first place), so I thought that maybe I’d do a few illustrations instead! Also perhaps a few 4-koma comics? By the end of next week, I’d like to have a proof copy of the book in my hands. I can also know how much it’s going to cost since I’ll have the page count and quote.
It’s all quite a lot of fun! I love learning new things. I do hope that I can sell enough copies to enable me to move and settle into an apartment of my own in Hawaii. (Why Hawaii? I suppose that I can talk about that tomorrow? Do you care?) After the Tenipuri book is over it will be all marketing as well as manga. I’d like the first issue of Denkiki to come out this month, at the end of the month. I kept pushing it aside, but no more! I also want to enter the Zenon Silent Manga Audition competition, but aaaahhhhhhhh. There are so many things to do! I’d have to be superwoman to finish them all! And I’d like to take a day(or two) trip to Seattle, hmm… yep, just pile it all on there, Jamie!
Well, I suppose that it’s back to editing for now! I’m not sure if there was any point to this entry other than to be a life-update, but that’s alright, right? It’s my blog! Leave a comment cheering me on, and I’d love to hear what you’re up to! <3
